Terri Heil
Business Development Manager
Terri
has a diverse background in sales and business development and
enjoys the challenges starting businesses from the ground up.
She was part of the original sales and development team at
BellSouth for the very popular “Blackberry” device. “I was one
of the few Women in Technology in the early 80’s, Terri states,
“and I loved every minute of it”.
When the opportunity presented itself to start a career in the
Storage Industry Terri was up for the challenge. “We started off
by joining associations like ISS and SSA where we started
networking with industry professionals that were able to lead us
in the right direction”. Terri’s background in software
development enabled her to start working with the company’s
software and hardware vendors on the back office systems in the
very early stages of development.
Two of the more challenging areas that captured her attention
were insurance and wading through all of the legal issues
surrounding the storage industry after 9/11. “I was lucky I
found an exceptional Attorney that is an industry expert and a
top rate insurance broker both at the same convention”.
An opportunity in the storage industry was what Terri and Ed
were looking for. In a very short time they have been able to
create a “Country Club” atmosphere for their facility. Terri
states “Once our customers receive our Concierge approach to
customer service they will never dream of leaving us”.
Ed Heil
Manager of Operations & Security
Ed
retired from the Army in 1983 after 20 years of service. In
keeping with his background in telecommunications and satellite
communications he launched a career with GTE immediately after
retirement. Through mergers and acquisitions GTE became Sprint
and Ed found himself living and working in Dallas Texas. During
his 13 year tenure with Sprint Ed held a variety of positions
working for The University of Excellence, Sprint’s training
organization. Ed had a 7 year hiatus in the middle of his Sprint
career when he went to work for Nortel in Richardson Texas. At
Nortel Ed managed a $500M product portfolio for the marketing
organization where Sprint was one of their major distributors.
After 13 years of service he retired from Sprint in April 2005.
“I’ve never been very far away from Sprint, they were a vendor
for the US Army, I worked for them for 13 years, at Nortel they
were one of my largest distributors and I am still carrying one
of their cell phones”.
About the time Ed was ready for his second retirement an
opportunity came available for Ed and his wife Terri to project
manage the construction and opening of Lake Havasu RV and Boat
Storage. Ed and Terri with over 40 years combined sales and
marketing experience decided it was time for a new challenge so
they packed up their home in Dallas and set out for Lake Havasu
City. “We have basically built the business from the ground up,
when we arrived on site there were only a few standing walls, a
chain link fence and a lot of Desert”. “Watching construction is
nerve wracking, things never go as planned”.
Ed and Terri are no strangers to boating, they owned several
boats and have enjoyed boating on Lake of the Ozarks and Lake
Texoma. “We have not had the time to enjoy Lake Havasu as we
would have liked because our business is keeping us very busy”.
When Ed’s gets time away from work he enjoys shotgun sports
especially Trap and Sporting Clays.
Ed has written a variety of articles for storage industry
magazines, newspapers and the internet. He and his wife are
active participants in the storage industry associations. Ed &
Terri were featured speakers at an ISS convention Q&A session
for RV & Boat Storage and have led round table discussions on
Marketing RV and Boat Storage. “We feel RV & boat storage is a
new and interesting market segment for the storage industry”.
